Summer Under the Stars
During the month of August, Turner Classic Movies presented a rare treat. It was called “Summer Under the Stars,” with each of the 31 days featuring 24 hours of movies dedicated to one star each day. From 6:00am to 6:00am you could watch to your heart’s content. I saw some of my favorite stars, such as Gene Kelly, John Wayne, Katharine Hepburn, James Cagney, James Mason, and so many more. I watched dozens of movies (‘Singing in the Rain”‘ jumps to the top of the list), and enjoyed many early films of their careers.
Why not embark on a ‘Fall Under the Stars’ with your children or grandchildren, each day telling them you love them, and listening to how their day went? It might mean sending them a note with their lunch or having a special supper. You may even want to pray as a family, more than grace before meals. Sharing might become a habit – affirm your children no matter what their age. They are ‘stars’ in our lives, and in the Heart of God.
Star-gazing with you,
Fr. Dennis J. Vincenzo
